Army Force Protection

Problem: A small unit is camped out in an area that is known to have insurgents. There is a lot of dust and sand in the air and visibility with binoculars or night vision goggles is severely limited. The soldiers need to secure their perimeter and protect themselves from possible ambush.

Solution: The unit's Humvee is equipped with a SpotterRF Dismount Tracking Radar (DTR) that is attached to the top of the vehicle and is powered off the vehicle's battery power. The sentry for each shift carries a wireless radio that sends an audible alert from the SpotterRF to the sentry's earpiece whenever the SpotterRF detects something moving towards the camp even when it is over 1000 yards away. This time when a group of insurgents approach the camp the troops are alerted well before the insurgents even realize that they have been detected and the troop is able to prevent an ambush.
